Hi. I have Ubuntu installed twice on my desktop, and was hoping to dual boot it with Windows 7. But when I try to reinstall Grub, I get an error saying "cannot get the canonical path of /cow." What does this mean?
It seems to be a security vulnerability in Ubuntu, etc. Well and good, but how does one fix the issue so that Linux (and Windows) can boot properly? And why, when I look in the file system, is there no folder named /cow?

Re: Till the /cow comes home
It's completely innocent if the full message is this:
Code: Select all
grub probe: error: failed to get canonical path of /cow
Installation finished. No error reported.

Re: Till the /cow comes home
So I tried installing Grub again, with the result, "can't find /boot/grub/i386-pc". Progress of a sort.
