Suggest plugins for next release of popular file manager nnn

Post by arunj » Fri May 24, 2019 1:14 pm

Author of file manager nnn https://github.com/jarun/nnn here.

In our next release we are going to introduce plugins for functionality which don't fit in as a part of the core file manager but are useful for users. So far we have around 20 plugins (https://github.com/jarun/nnn/tree/master/plugins) which are quite useful for frequent workflows.

This post is a request for more plugin suggestions, reviews and contributions. Thanks a lot in advance!

Reason: Moved away from Linux Mint Main Edition to "Chat about Linux", because file-manager "nnn" is not limited to Linux Mint, nor is it part of it by default

Suggestion - cloud storage integration via rclone. The plugin should streamline installing rclone, configuring it with a remote service and then automating mounting remote storage as a fuse filestyem using rclone mount.

Wow wow wow! Excellent suggestion!

Installing the required utility is not taken care of by the plugins but I see that rclone has released packages available so it shouldn't be an issue. We will look into an easy config so a service can be used seamlessly.

Added this as a line item. Thank you so much!

I noticed that you contribute to several file managers yourself. Would you be interested in contributing to nnn? We are kind of a 2-people team (engaged in development) now and would really appreciate an extra pair of hands. Many thanks!

Thanks for the offer, but I have lots of little projects already on the go (or the back-burner) and not enough time to give my existing to-do list justice - :)

There's a file diff plugin using vimdiff, I am also thinking of a simple dir diff representation.

Update: modified the plugin ndiff to support diff of 2 directories.
