MS Powershell comes to Linux

Post by JerryF » Sat Aug 17, 2019 11:50 am

Just found this out because I was in Windows and went to use Powershell. It notified me of the newer Powershell available:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powers ... shell-core

Is this to help Windows users be more comfortable with Linux?

It is, like WSL, likely more about eventually luring (web-)developers currently on Linux over to Windows by minimizing perceived differences/incompatibilities. I.e., bash on Windows or Powershell on Linux -- they both provide for a method to have Windows provide a same/similar user experience to Linux for those that use Linux basically only as a necessity in the first place such as many of those mentioned (web-)developers.

In that, I'll note that while I dislike Microsoft as much as the next guy, I'm not even generally very paranoid and/or conspiracy-theoretic...

The day Microsoft is no more (ceased to be, run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible...) I will be a very happy man.

I highly doubt anyone feels "trapped" in using GNU+Linux.
I'm so down wit' dat', yo, dass ich unter dem Beton bin.

Presently rocking LinuxMint 19.2 Cinnamon.

Remember to mark your fixed problem [SOLVED].

All in all, you're just another brick in the wall.
