Project leader Mark Greaves (Peppermint OS) has died

Post by Pjotr »

Sad news: the leader of the Peppermint OS project, Mark Greaves (from Cornwall, Great Britain) has died after a short illness, at the age of 58:

In the past I've had contact with Mark. He was a nice and helpful man. He will be sorely missed both by his family and by the Peppermint OS project.

I did not know him, or get around to trying Peppermint OS, but from the sounds of it he was a great guy and my thoughts are with those that knew him. I have family in Cornwall, and it is a great place and people. I hope the project can carry on without him, as the more 'good' Linux we have the better imho.

Sorry to hear that. I've used several versions of Peppermint OS and it's a fine distribution.

Didn't Ikey Docherty have something to do with starting Peppermint OS? I know he was a part of the MInt team before he went on to Solis OS.

Too bad ... these guys are hard to replace. :(
My favourite distros are Linux Mint & Peppermint Linux and I run 2 legacy laptops on each.

Oh my gosh, that is so awful and terribly sad! I didn't know he was ill. Peppermint OS was my first foray into the world of Linux, and I still have it on a very old laptop. I also use Peppermint's ICE software on my Linux Mint installation. I've been very grateful for all of Mark's hard work. What a terrible loss for the Peppermint and Linux communities! My condolences to his family and friends.
