If you'd prefer a Windows 7 look over Windows 10, along with staying with Mint, see this link: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2020/01/mak ... -windows-7

There are other people that have themed Mint to look like one Windows or another. You should be able to find some of them in the themes section of the forum.
I don't understand why anybody would give so much importance to looks. I do not care in the least about skins, themes, fuzzies or decorations. I want to be able to find things where I am used to them being there and working the way they always have. I want to go to the Device Manager and have it work like the Win XP device manager and I don't care about how it looks. Transitioning to LM for me is a chore because I have to learn where everything is and how it works. The looks of LM Cinnamon is just fine for me and changing it to look like Windows would just make it more confusing, not less.

I do not consider my computer a work of art which needs to be pretty. For me it is a tool which should be efficient before anything else. If I want to look at something pretty I can look out the window at my neighbor's wife.
Please do not use animated GIFs in avatars because many of us find them distracting and obnoxious. Thank you.

ReactOS is linux made to look and run like windows 2000

I see that after applying it to the laptop display, I still have the "spray bottle with GNU+Linux .. wipes Windows in seconds!" one on the other monitor. :D

Only as far as Google Android is not 'Linux'. It still uses kernels based off linux kernel source code, ReiserFS, samba, gcc and WINE. They can dress it up however they want.

I've been following the glacial pace of ReactOS for almost 12 years now....
I'm wondering if they'll reach a Windows 2000 level of usability in my lifetime.

I see enough of Windows, more so than I want. I'd like to see PearOS make a come-back (one can only hope).

Secret Back-Doors that M$ employees can get into your System and do whatever they like...Use your Broadband to download updates to other people's computers...Does it come with Secure Boot to stop you trying to install another Linux Distro ? Image

Why would anyone who left all of that Windoze crap behind want to be Bloody reminded of it. Image

I have not, and to be honest, I doubt I will leave Mint.

WRONG. It is NOT linux based. It comes from Russia, it has been around since 1996 and is STILL IN ALPHA. WHat kind of an idiot would want that?

See my response above to Vladimir, maybe you didn't read that far down the thread. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's duck.

Distrowatch says this in description of ReactOS...DAMIEN
Written completely from scratch, ReactOS is not a Linux-based system and it shares none of the UNIX architecture. The main goal of the ReactOS project is to provide an operating system which is binary compatible with Windows. This will allow Windows applications and drivers to run as they would on a Windows system. Additionally, the look and feel of the Windows operating system is used, such that people accustomed to the familiar user interface of Windows would find using ReactOS straightforward. The ultimate goal of ReactOS is to allow people to use it as an alternative to Windows without the need to change software they are used to.

The ReactOS codebase says otherwise though as do the fact their wiki refers to linux derived portions as well. But honestly who really cares, it is pretty crap

There is no need to be insulting. Other people might have tastes and opinions different from yours and it doesn't make them idiots or dumb, just different.
