LOL , Geeeez.Upon clicking "Add new VM", a message turned up from an Enterprise Development representative at Ubuntu with the ominous phrase: "I saw that you spun up an Ubuntu image in Azure," and offering to be a point of contact.

That's doubleplusungood
I’ll tell you a DNS joke but be advised, it could take up to 24 hours for everyone to get it.

So ... what's the current status of LMDE? Is it ready for primetime? I haven't looked at it in a while. Its stories like this have me wanting to move away from Ubuntu-based distros.

The HR-Dept-inspired corporate responses make it even worse.
So, for a newbie, how different is LMDE from the Ubuntu versions?

The unregister story, https://www.theregister.com/2021/02/11/ ... a_sharing/, seriously raises the question1:
I am in no way affiliated with or on the payroll of any of the companies, whose names have been mentioned in this post.
- Is the story really true?
- Has it happened precisely as reported?
- If Canonical acted as claimed in the unregister story, would they not shoot their own foot badly, because anyone, who might have taken Ubuntu into consideration, would be put off, turn away and rather pay for Redhat, would (s)he not? I would.
