Compatibility with Linux kernels...

Post by Portreve »

In my quest to learn more about GNU+Linux, the following question came up:

Does there come a point at which a given distro release is no longer able to use the latest kernel release? For example, could Red Hat 4.2 (circa 1997) use Kernel 5.12.9?

Probably. It would be like trying to fit a 2021 engine into a 1980 car.
