Favourite Password Manager
Just curious what everyone likes to use and why. I don't currently use one but have been thinking about it a little more lately.

Re: Favorite Password Manager
for me,
LastPass
it is free for one device.
I use the extension on my LM20.3 laptop with Firefox
they go to great lengths to ensure we are safe.
there was a recent report that one of their developer's account was hacked, but no database losses were incurred..... the report stated that developer was 'retrained' whatever that means?

KeePassXC.
It is open source, a fundamental requirement for a trusted password manager.
Bruce Schneier, one of the godfathers of cryptpgraphy had written:
It means, that there is by guarantee no backdoor, which you can never be sure in case of closed source software.
KPXC is also powerful and flexible.
And, as RIH wrote, KeePass can be used on every platform, also iOS and MacOS.

Re: Favorite Password Manager
KeePass XC because it exists only on my computer and is not reliant on an internet connection or cloud storage.

which is exactly why I cannot use it, I don't always use the same PC/device.cliffcoggin wrote: ⤴Tue Sep 13, 2022 7:38 am KeePass XC because it exists only on my computer and is not reliant on an internet connection or cloud storage.
I am very mobile around the house/world.
Re: Favourite Password Manager
Exactly the situation for a smartphone.
Re: Favourite Password Manager
Regarding LastPass: This is not more than half a month back. That means: bad choice.

And the fact that I can "auto type" the credentials into webpages and mostly avoid using the clipboard.
Re: Favourite Password Manager
KeepassXC for me too. I like it being entirely local (which suits me) and the auto-type feature.
Re: Favourite Password Manager
A lot of good stuff here. I appreciate all the responses and reasons why you are using the manager that you chose.

Re: Favorite Password Manager
It creates a database that can be exported and imported on a different device. In other words, it's not hard to move around. You could even keep the database on a USB stick.AZgl1800 wrote: ⤴Tue Sep 13, 2022 10:35 amwhich is exactly why I cannot use it, I don't always use the same PC/device.cliffcoggin wrote: ⤴Tue Sep 13, 2022 7:38 am KeePass XC because it exists only on my computer and is not reliant on an internet connection or cloud storage.

I keep a copy on a USB stick, not for portability, but as a backup.Moem wrote: ⤴Tue Sep 13, 2022 1:05 pmIt creates a database that can be exported and imported on a different device. Re: Favourite Password Manager
Not being quite so 'cloud wary' as some, I actually keep my database in DropBox & so can easily access it & update it from any of my devices..
