Macpup

Postby tdockery97 » Wed Nov 17, 2010 5:14 am

Checked DistroWatch this morning and saw that Macpup 511 was just released. I had never heard of it, so I checked out the release announcement and watched the Youtube video they linked to. I was intrigued so I downloaded the iso, burned to cd, and then installed to my 8GB usb stick. Macpup 511 uses E17 and I have to admit I was blown away. It is totally awesome! After playing with it for a while I knew I wanted to keep it so I did the full install to my HDD. It has got to be the fastest distro I have ever used, and is completely binary compatible with Ubuntu just like Mint 10. I've now found my two main distros. If you haven't tried it go to the Macpup main site and give it a try. It's only about 180MB download.

I am downloading it now but have a huge beef with the site owner or whoever. It took me 8 trys on all 3 mirrors before getting the download. It kept redirecting me to useless Microsoft software download sites where I would have to pay to download the useless garbage..
