Anyone can answer this post, and you have no right to limit that. Perhaps you meant it would not be answered "By YOU?" Critique IMHO

I did mean by me, I didn't want the negative energy to flow back and forth any longer. I thought that I could put an end to it by refusing to answer.

let me try this instead:

Anthony has been very considerately seeking a solution to my issues with SailneOS, both with his development work and his discussion in this forum in the face of my harsh criticism. At this time I would have to say that I misjudged his responses on his own forum. I should have been more patient . After all the next major release of SalineOS won't come for a couple of years.

My wife still uses SalineOS and I am confident that she will enjoy the benefits of all the effort that has been put into a stable and user friendly OS by Anthony and his team.

 Yeah, Husse would be right in the middle of this discussion. A good clean fight.
Cristobal I've been around for awhile under a different username, I had to change Username when the servers went down because I could not get any more E-mail notices.

I just cut a partition and set up as a dual boot with Julia. It's a damn fine system regardless. Bravo !

I really like the transparent terminal. Nice touch.
Let's see what the minty guys come up with as an LMDE XFCE.

Yeah, it's looking very good here, too. Folks who like Debian Stable and Xfce, Saline is definitely worth taking a look at.

Saline OS 1.3 is available for download.
Anthony Nordquist wrote:SalineOS 1.3 images are now available. New features and changes include:
*Now has the ability to change the system language in the installer.
*Ability to set keyboard layout in the installer.
*Optionally you can now download language packs for Icedove, OpenOffice.org and MySpell by hitting yes on a dialog. This requires a working internet connection and changing the system language (Using the installer).
*Will download a translated user manual into your language, assuming your language is Spanish as that is the only translation done at this time. Translation courtesy of Richard Holt.
*All updates installed from the Debian security repository since the building of 1.2
*Several small revisions and additions to the user manual. Most notably small section about setting the language.
*Disabled Remastersys repository by default.
*Discontinued the shell CD image. An overwhelming majority of people ignored its existence and used the DVD images.

You may notice that the images have gotten quite a bit larger since the last build. This is almost entirely the addition of language setting in the installer.

So you two have a problem, why play it out here?
If you don't like it, make something better
If you can't make something better, adapt
If you can't do either ball your panties up and cry.

Complaining is like masticating most anyone can do it.
However doing it in public is really hardcore.

If you have a problem take it up with the moderator. The quote i included this time was from Anthony Nordquist, the Author of Saline OS and I didn't remember how to put his name in it. I edited that for you.

No dude I did not say I had a problem. My take is that the net is free and you get to say whatever you want till the Moderators show up. My question is and was why here on the Mint board? Without context most of the debate and whatnot is just confusing. It would seem that the SalineOS would be the better venue for such a debate. My apologies if I have insulted you in anyway.

Accepted. I'm just telling people that the new version is out and quoting the author so they know what's in it. Actually, from this tread, people are responding positively to Saline OS. I sure would not want to mess with a good thing.

From what I could google, Husse may have been a real pain-in-the-ass and a Troll, but he could sure write code!

We haven't talked about this distro in awhile. SalineOS is sitting at version 1.4. Still looks like a nice little distro here. It doesn't seem to be getting much attention, though. Still a young distro.

It's a small, one-man distro, but it's based on Debian Squeeze, so it's got those repos behind it. Currently comes with Xfce 4.6. The dev, Anthony Nordquist, is making use of Backports, so it'll be interesting to see how that goes as more stuff becomes available in Backports and as he tests things and brings them in.

He uses his own upgrade script, but I've been getting my updates via Synaptic, except for when there's a new point release available, then I use his script. That might not be what he recommends, but it seems to be working out. It just seems like running Debian Squeeze, but with a little twist, and it was much quicker and easier to install. If anyone here has been using it, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
