Ich habe einen neuen Laptop Lenovo mit Linux mint 18.1 cinnamon. Neu installiert.
Kabelnetzwerk funktioniert.
ABER:
wenn ich das Netzwerkkabel herausziehe, kann ich kein Funknetzwerk einstellen.
Der "Schieber" mit dem ich Funknetzwerk "on" stellen könnte, lässt sich nicht schieben.
Er bleibt auf "off"

inxi -Fz
das du benutzt hattest: Wenn du an der richtigen Stelle ein "x" hinzufügst, dann wird die Ausgabe deutlich nützlicher.
inxi -Fxz
Das "x" in "-Fxz" bewirkt, das inxi freiwillig ein paar mehr relevante technische Details herausrückt. - Fürs nächste Mal.

Hard blocked.... Kannst du im BIOS den Wifi auf "last state" oder "always on" einstellen?

da iwlwifi normalerweise problemlos läuft,
hat dein note vermutlich einen hardware schalter / schieber der ausgeschaltet ist. RTFM

Im BIOS ist wlan enabled. Einen Schalter gibt es nicht mehr...

So, jetzt habe ich die Lösung.
Im Internet habe ich eine analoge Lösung entdeckt und auf meinen Fall abgewandelt:
sudo rmmod ideapad_lenovo
Dies sollte dann in /etc/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
eingetragen werden:
blacklist ideapad_laptop
Ich weiss zwar nicht, ob es nun irgendwelche anderen Nebenwirkungen gibt...
