Problemas Drivers Escaner Brother MFC-6490CW en LM 19.3 Tricia [Solucionado]

Hola a tod@s.

Escribo este post a ver si alguien me puede ayudar a configurar el escaner de mi impresora multifunción Brother MFC-6490CW en mi ordenador con sistema operativo Linux Mint 19.3 (Tricia) Cinnamon de 32-bit.

La impresora multifunción Brother MFC-6490CW la tengo conectada en red, es decir, a través del cable LAN al router, por lo que la comunicación del ordenador con la impresora multifunción se hace a través del router.

Pues bien, he ido a la web del fabricante de mi impresora multifunción para descargar los drivers para linux en este enlace

En el archivo que se va a descargar están supuestamente incluidos los drivers de la impresora y del escanner ya que el fabricante en la página web indica lo siguiente (The tool will install LPR, CUPSwrapper driver and scanner driver (for scanner models).

Luego al darle abajo al botón de "Acepte el CLUF e inicie la descarga" me lleva al siguiente enlace

En la nueva página se descarga un archivo de extensión .gz y se proporcionan unas instrucciones a ejecutar en el terminal de Linux las cuales sigo a rajatabla.

Luego en el paso 7 indico la Y de Yes (ya que mi conexión con la impresora multifunción es en red) e indico el "13 Automatic" como device URI Number. Luego incluso me pregunta si quiero imprimir una página de prueba y la impresora la imprime.

El problema viene cuando en el terminal se ejecuta la instalación del paquete brscan-skey-0.3.1-2-i386.deb, ya que tras pedirme la dirección IP (supongo que de la impresora) me sale lo siguiente en el terminal:

La instalación no continúa y al darle a cerrar al terminal me indica que si cierro se matará el proceso en ejecución. Yo lo cierro.

Luego voy al Simple Scan y no me detecta el escaner por lo que no puedo escanear nada.

Agradecería que si alguen en el foro sabe como hacer para que funcione el escaner me responda.

En las instrucciones de configuración en red de tu multifunción cuando sólo se descarga el driver del escáner, el comando a usar es:

brsaneconfig4 -a name=(name your device) model=(model name) ip=xx.xx.xx.xx

Es decir, usando "brsaneconfig4" en lugar de "brsaneconfig3". Prueba a ejecutar como "root" el comando:

Asegúrate de que la IP de la multifunción es la correcta y que el router siempre le asigne la misma para evitar problemas futuros. Si sigue sin funcionar, descarga el driver del escáner por separado, instálalo de nuevo y vuelve a ejecutar el comando anterior usando "4" o "3".

Gracias por la respuesta Wibol pero sigo igual ya que ahora el Simple Scan me detecta el escaner pero cuando le doy a escanear me dice que no se puede conectar con el escaner.
Por lo que me indica la terminal no parece que el problema esté en el comando brsaneconfig3 o brsaneconfig4 ya que con el primero me indica que está la multifunción registrada y con el segundo me indica que la orden no existe.
Te paso todo lo que he hecho en el terminal por si puedes revisarlo y ver dónde está el problema.

Estás usando direcciones IP diferentes en los comandos. Supongo que ahora la correcta es la acabada en 34. Desde la cuenta de "root" elimina la configuración ya registrada con:

Y vuelve a añadirla, pero esta vez sin usar ceros a la izquierda en la IP:

Además de la IP para conectar con el escáner, se puede utilizar el "nodename" que puedes obtener a través de la pantallita LCD de la multifunción en la configuración de red.

Muchísimas gracias por tu ayuda Wibol. Gracias a tus instrucciones ahora ya funciona el escaner de mi multifunción Brother MFC-6490CW en Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia con total normalidad.

En la impresora solamente he cambiado la configuración de la IP de la Red, para ello fui al menú de la impresora y en el apartado de BOOT Method lo cambié de Auto a Estático para que no me cambiase la dirección IP cada vez que encendiese la impresora. También he puesto una IP "alta" a la impresora para que no me generase problemas con otros equipos que tienen IP automática y que el router les asigne la misma IP que la impresora, por lo que en lugar de usar la IP 192.168.1.34 le he puesto la IP 192.168.1.196 a la impresora para evitar este problema.

Luego, en el terminal de Linux ejecuté como root (su -) los comandos que me habías dicho en tu post de las 8:31 pm de ayer día 2 de agosto.

• El primero para eliminar la configuración de la impresora ya registrada

• El segundo para volver a añadir la configuración de la impresora sin usar los ceros a la izquierda en la IP

Por lo que el problema ya está SOLUCIONADO.

Y gracias también por contarme esa otra opción de configurar el escaner con el nodename alternativa a la configuración con la ip, aunque no he conseguido que me funcionase, por lo que seguiré con la configuración de IP.

PD: En la versión 20.2 Uma de Linux Mint de 64 bits al ejecutar el comando su - te sale un fallo de autenticación. Para solucionarlo hay que ejecutar el comando sudo passwd root y definir una contraseña para el root. Una vez hecho esto ya se puede ejecutar con normalidad el comando su -

Por cierto Wibol, un par de dudas más.

La primera es sobre el montón de archivos que se me han ido generando en la carpeta Descargas durante la instalación de los drivers de la impresora multifunción. ¿Puedo eliminarlos todos sin más o es necesario que esos archivos sigan en la carpeta Descargas para que funcionen los Drivers de la multifunción?

La segunda es sobre la manera de salir del modo "root", ya que al darle a cerrar en la ventana del terminal me sale una advertencia que indica que el terminal está ejecutando un proceso y que si cierro la ventana ese proceso se matará. ¿Como tengo que hacer para que no me salga este mensaje de advertencia al cerrar el terminal?

Me alegro de que funcionara.

Los archivos descargados los puedes borrar o mover a la papelera sin problema, ya que la instalación se realiza en otros directorios del sistema.

Para salir de la sesión "root" basta con escribir "exit" y pulsar Intro. Verás como el prompt vuelve a su estado anterior. Si vuelves a escribir "exit" de nuevo, se cerrará la terminal.
