[Tutorial] Como instalar Kindle en Linux - [Tutorial] How to install Kindle on Linux

Post by atoky »

Hola chicos

Hi guys

I recently started using the Linux Mint distro, I'm not a linux veteran or anything, but I've started using mint more actively. I had used ubunto before, but at that time I didn't use as many apps as I do now.
Like everyone who comes from using windows, there were certain applications that I wanted to bring from windows, but it is becoming more and more difficult to bring applications with wine.

I read many tutorials on how to install kindle and I saw many videos and it's not a joke when I say that none of them worked for me, they were very outdated and even if kindle was installed it never let me log in.

Now, the form that I am going to show now, maybe not everyone has access, but I am sure that it will work for most of them and it is simple that what they do not have access to can easily have it.

What I did was install the kindle on a windows pc and copy the amazon folder onto a USB stick and take it to my linux pc.

The easiest way to find that folder in windows is to right click and then click show file in folder (I think that's what the option is called),
If I'm not mistaken by default mint comes with wine and all you have to do is run the .exe and the application will open, it may take a few minutes to open depending on the processing of your machine, but that will only be the first time.

And well here is the proof that it works, I really hope it works for people who had the same problems as me. Try this with another application before kindle, in case you want to venture with other applications that interest you.

Another option that I can recommend is to use the Web Applications function that is native in linux mint, I don't know in other distros.

Something I forgot to mention is that to avoid receiving a message like this:

Image

Do the following...
Create the directory: ~/.wine/drive_c/users/<your username>/AppData/Local/Amazon/Kindle/

in my case it would be ~/.wine/drive_c/users/rodalvis-sys/AppData/ Local / Amazon / Kindle /
that will avoid the Runtime Error, in WIndows that folder is created automatically, but for some reason even if you do a normal installation these folders are not created in Linux...
It should be noted that this tutorial is valid for other distributions, I did it in Ubuntu and it came out very well...
So that you don't have any problems with wine, always remember to install wine64 after the stable one (not before, after finishing all the normal winehq installation process, then install wine64).
