Any way to delete the Delete X in Secondary click? [SOLVED]

Post by fresh_breath » Wed Sep 11, 2019 5:52 am

I always want to hit that red perma-delete X, rather than cut or copy. It's like the fly in the urinal. Is there any way to remove it? Thank you.

Solved!

Thanks to all41 for your help!

Do you mean the rightclick menu?
And what's your desktop environment?

Left click menu for me. Secondary mouse button. Um... I forgot. It's the most common, generic one. Might be Cinnamon?

I know I can just stop being stupid, but I also can barely use my mouse. So I have a lot of things getting deleted.

Might be. Or might not be. Can you check your System Info?

Well--the Delete choice in the context menu is quite separated from the cut and copy
buttons.
You have a choice as to whether the X Delete button is included in the right click context menu.
Open your home folder, click the Edit button in the toolbar and choose Preferences.
Then under the Behavior tab you will find a choice to include the Delete button or not

Anyway, I'm done trying to get information out of you. Best of luck!

Maybe. But every time use my mouse, it clicks 3-8 times all over the screen. So it is easy to hit delete. Someone said the circuit on my motherboard that controls the mouse is fried? :(

But this was it! It fixed it. Fairly easy for an old fart. Thank you for your help!

OK good, you're welcome.

Check out this recent topic regarding erratic mouse:

edit:
I see you are already posting in that thread.
You can also search the Mint forums for other threads regarding mouse problems.
Good luck and cheers

Are you using a PS2 mouse? PS2 are not hot pluggable and I have seen issues with damaged PS2 ports. If you have a USB mouse, you can try that and see if it solves your erroneous mouse click issue.
