CD door opens after updates

After updating my desk top with Linux updates today, the CD door opens every time I re-awaken the computer.

Time for a timeshift reboot pre update?

This is a known kernel bug which appeared recently and got back ported to currently supported kernel versions. They will fix it. I unplugged my CD drive until then for I use it seldom. For more information see the bug track here:

I can confirm it is a kernel bug, I dropped back to kernel 5.4.0-81 and the problem went away.

For those who use the series 4.15 kernel.
The kernel "4.15.0-153" is very good.

The issue began with 156 and after trying 4.15.0-158 today, the issue continues with that update.

With Mint 20.2, the problem started with kernel 5.4.0-84. Today's upgrade to 5.4.0-86 seems to have fixed it.

I never tested the kernel 4.15.0-154.
There are some bugs for this kernel, including the problem of the CD tray opening alone.
There are no bugs for the kernel 4.15.0-153.

Oh, for me the DVD/CD tray opening only started with 156.

I think maybe if it persists after the next kernal update, my fix may be to just disable that drive, since I never use it anyway. And if I ever do need it and forget that I disabled it, I have an external DVD drive that I can plug in .

I was WRONG! Kernel 5.4.0-86 did NOT fix the problem.

Update to previous posts. Kernel 5.11.0-36 also causes the CD/DVD tray to open and close on a cold start.
Disappointing.

Mine too. A few updates ago printer driver gone and was not fixed until weeks later with another update. Now cd/dvd doors open and close on hibernation and wake.
