Monitor Shutdown

Post by drifter »

I have had linux mint for about 2 weeks and mostly works great. I have Nvidia geforce 6200.
I have my monitor set to go off in 11 minutes to test it. Ii have dual monitors. It shuts down on time if i am doing absolutely nothing at all. But if something like totem is streaming audio from the BBC the monitors dont shut down.
I even tried closing the windows so the program was running from the task panel.

Any Ideas? or is this just something linux does?

Thanks

Don't know for sure - if you have an open window - say a web page it goes to sleep. Have not tried with streaming media though

Thanks very much. I am still trying to figure it out. I moved to mint from win xp . In xp it just looks for mouse movements. If no mouse movements anything can be running and power management still puts em to sleep.
