Login screen doesn't come up

Login screen doesn't come up

Hi everyone,
I have a problem. Yesterday everything was fine. I closed mint linux properely. But today when I turned my computer on the login screen didn't come up in graphic mode. Only text mode showed up. I can login using text mode but that's not what I want. Please help

Something must have happened....
This is a the hard nut to crack - what happened?
It can be that during shut down or boot up there was a spike in the power line which lead to a file being destroyed.....
Or did you install/update something yesterday?
You say text mode without specifying it, it could be different cases
If you get a proper CLI try startx and see what happens
If no success boot into Recovery mode
Note that you are root here and be very careful
Issue
dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
(no sudo - you are root already)
When done reboot (nothing else)
If no success post back (and do so to tell us if you succeed as well)
