Various ways...
One is to go to the station's website, and click on the "listen live" button...
In case of need, you can always download the "MediaPlayerConnectivity" extension in Firefox...

Streamtuner is for internet-radio listening. It won't play your favorite radio station but since this is all it was intended for it works great without all the extra baggage.of, say, Amarok (which is good at playing music on your hard drive but lacks at radio).

I save their .pls files, sometimes text-edit them, then open them to listen with foobar (+wine).

Different distro and player and file manager and even Window Manager. But you should get a general idea.

Radio Tray (radiotray package in Synaptic) is a very good Internet radio player http://www.linuxinsider.com/story/74364.html.
