latest version for this old computer?

Post by ablang »

I have an old Dell Latitude C600 laptop. It's a P3 w/ 256MB of ram. What's the latest version (obviously an older one) of Linux Mint that this computer can handle?

LXDE edition should run well on that machine. Latest release is 12. You can download it from here.

System requirements:
  • x86 processor
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 5 GB of disk space
  • Graphics card capable of 800×600 resolution
  • CD/DVD drive or USB port

After installing Mint 12 LXDE check this page to make it faster.

I have several computers with 256MB of RAM and work ok with Mint 12 LXDE if you tune it a little.
