deinstalled Software

How can I de-install software which is installed with Mint Software Portal.

terminal:

sudo apt-get uninstall <program>

or

go to synaptics and find the package you have installed, and uninstall it (just click unmark)

terminal: sudo apt-get uninstall <program> IS NOT WORKING
WHERE CAN I FIND "synaptics" ???
go to synaptics and find the package you have installed, and uninstall it (just click unmark)

THX

I found "synaptics" and uninstalled the programs.
The strange thing is that Linux remembers the uninstalled software for installing it again.

Is it not

sudo apt-get remove package

Though synaptic is probably better if you don't know the correct name of the package.
