Perculiar network connection...

Post by Cambo105 » Mon Mar 17, 2008 3:55 pm

Here is my situation, I recently switched to Linux Mint on my laptop and love it so much I am ready to switch my desktop over as well. These are my system specs:

HP Pavilion a708n
Intel Celeron D 330 (2.66GHz)
504MB Ram
80GB Hard Drive
Intel Extreme 64MB graphics (Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics)

The live CD for Mint boots fine and with my Linksys USB wireless g adapter (WUSB54GV4) I can detect my wireless network. However I can not connect no matter how many attempts I make. I've googled around and the problem I turned up was Ubuntu and Mint not even recognizing the wireless USB adapter, however since it picks up my device I suspect my problem lies elsewhere. Is it a possibility that it is not functioning properly because I am using the Live CD?

One final note, the adapter works and connects to the internet on the same PC running Windows.

Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We have a wiki for wireless
As you can see but not connect your problem may not be covered in the wiki, but even this kind of problems get the solution this way
And try with an open network first. When (if) that works go on to fix wep/wpa
Don't leave your home wireless network unprotected
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
