Perhaps you could try a dock like Cairo or AWN or Docky and find some way to hide the cinnamon menu bar?

Not sure I understand the question.
If you go to the Menu and right click an application you have the option of sending it to the panel:

perhaps talking about "running" applications?
in win7 on the taskbar it displays an image per app, in mint, its similar to the xp taskbar, has a tab per application running, but displays the name instead of just an icon?

yes, i want just show icon on taskbar,,i use mint mate,,i try use docky and changge panel position on top and auto hide it but i cant add mint menu on docky,, i was try edit docky use gconf-editor and insert command "show-near-mouse" but its not working.
