can't mount local filesystems

Postby ricky » Tue Apr 15, 2008 3:47 am

so i don't know what happened, i installed xserver-xgl and then it freezes on me, so i restart in recovery mode and i get this error,

* mounting local filesystems . . .
Failed to access ' /dev/disk/by-uuid/26CCE5FFCCE5C95F ' no such file or directory

and then i started x as root and ran showed my disk as totally blank.... not even my windows partition showed up.

what is going on?

btw i removed xserver-xgl

Seems a bit unclear to me but I think you've somehow ended up in UUID hell. Solution for that here ... _a_problem
And please don't start X as root
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
