What browser do you recommend

Post by darkchild101 » Sat Jan 05, 2013 1:17 am

Normally i like firefox but it seems in Linux Mint it has some issues eg flv videos not playing properly etc. Google chrome i am not very keen on because of the absence of a menubar at top showing back, forward, history, bookmarks etc. Or is there a way of having the menubar permanently there. What other browser do you personally recommend in light of this

thanks in advance 8)

What problems are having with firefox? Have you tried the default web broswer epiphany to see if just releated to firefox? It may be simple depending on what's happening on your system.

Recommend FireFox. Opera has some good ratings. Some will argue with me but Chrome is really just spy-ware disguised as a browser.

I would recommend Firefox or Chrome/ium.

I'm not really sure how you can say that Google would make "spy-ware" and disguise it as a browser.

I'm running LM 13 epiphany is the default browser for MATE, under Web in Internet menu you must be using a different edition. Moreover if you have problem running flash in firefox you have good chance of having problems using flash in any browser. Thus what is exactly wrong with flash in firefox? It could a simple fix.

I know that Chrome uses its own version of Flash, so if the problem does turn out to be Flash-related and not have an easy fix, you may need to switch to Chrome.
They say that a three-year old can use Windows 8. I say that's a bit of a regression. When I was three, I could use DOS.

I like Firefox the best. I have used the other browsers, but I don't take to them. I personally haven't had any video issues using LM 14 Cinnamon or Xfce.

I use Chromium and Opera. Opera is very feature rich, but recent updates i.e. v12 has some issues, maybe just with me, but I have almost shifted to Chromium.

Chromium does have front and back buttons. You can have a bookmarks bar. I do not use other functions daily.

Both Chromium and Opera have a duplicate / clone tab function which I find very useful. I did not find it in FF

In Opera and FF, you can have traditional menubar. View --> toolbar --> menu bar. Just enable it.

Opera also has a notes feature, in which you can copy paste temporary info. Another feature is you can save session meaning all open tabs and give them a name. Later on you can open them by going into open new window / tab -->session.

I have personally found chromium to be faster with sites having more Javascripts.

 Are you searching for IE . You can install it via wine ;)

Chrome. It's fast, widely supported around the web (unlike Opera) and it's the only way to get an up to date flashplayer on Linux.
