Install Cinnamon on top of XFCE and keep both DE

Post by Eucalyptus » Wed Jan 16, 2013 1:43 am

Hi,

Using LM14 XFCE x64. Is there any risk or downside of installing Cinnamon on top of XFCE? And having the possibility to switch back and forth between XFCE and Cinnamon?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I guess not. There's the "Cinnamon desktop" on the software center. I'll try and post my results here.

You can install mint-meta cinnamon and mint-info cinnamon. However that will get you Nemo (File Manager),file roller, a few other things but mostly you're using XFCE libraries and applications when you log in your Cinnamon session.

With Cinnamon Desktop you get all the Gnome 3 libraries and applications that come with Cinnamon.
