Changing text color in Terminal

Post by whs »

I have made myself a nice terminal window and I know how to set the color of my own text input. But I have not yet figured out how to change the green text in the red box (see picture). Does anybody know ?? Thanks.

Thank you for the answer. Unfortunately, I do not have this path - in Nadia.

Under the Terminal button, I have these options: http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/5489 ... 052345.png

And under Edit > Profile Preferences, I have those buttons: http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/9853 ... 052346.png

I would like to know how to do this too. I love mint, but the green is hard on the eyes.

Even in Nadia you can't change the green user@host tag colour in terminal configurations. The best you can do is to change the colour of the text you type, but not the rest. I guess what you're looking for is not a change in the terminal itself, but a change in your bash profile. You can start by reading this:

http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/bash-shell ... x-or-unix/

Also, search for instructions about these files (I'm not sure which one you'll have to configure):

.bashrc
.profile
.bashrc_profile

// edit: yeap, I was right. Take a look:

Thanks Renatov. I will have a look at that.

What's in the Colors tab? Normally you control all of the terminal's text colors in that tab, where pallet entry 11 controls the prompt color. Maybe I don't understand the question.

d00med is right, it's possible to change bash colors in the "Colors" tab, but it will only affect this terminal emulator.
