Hi all

I have an EasyCap device which seems to be recognised. I am aiming to transfer domestic recordings from VHS to MP4. I am running Linux Mint 13. The video input seems fine and I can record an MP4 either through VLC or Mencoder but I cannot seem to get any sound to work. Please can anyone help me?

Entering cat /proc/asound/cards gets me the following list:

0 [Controlle ]: USB-Audio - USB 2.0 Video Capture Controlle
Syntek Semiconductor USB 2.0 Video Capture Controlle at usb-0000:00:1d.7-4, hig
1 [Camera ]: USB-Audio - USB Camera
Salix Corp. USB Camera at usb-0000:00:1a.7-5, high speed
2 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xf9ff8000 irq 46

and my device is listed as:

T: Bus=02 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=03 Cnt=01 Dev#= 2 Spd=480 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 2.00 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=05e1 ProdID=0408 Rev=00.05
S: Manufacturer=Syntek Semiconductor
S: Product=USB 2.0 Video Capture Controller
C: #Ifs= 3 Cfg#= 1 Atr=80 MxPwr=500mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff Driver=stk1160
I: If#= 1 Alt= 0 #EPs= 0 Cls=01(audio) Sub=01 Prot=00 Driver=snd-usb-audio
I: If#= 2 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=01(audio) Sub=02 Prot=00 Driver=snd-usb-audio

lsusb gets me:
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 05e1:0408 Syntek Semiconductor Co., Ltd STK1160 Video Capture Device

lsusb -v -d 05e1:0408 | grep tSamFreq | sed -e "s,^.* ,,"
Couldn't open device, some information will be missing
8000

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks
Kyle
