I hope someone can tell me why my PDF documents don't have the adobe icon. Also, all Libre Office files I create don't have their icons either. Doesn't matter if I download a file or import off a thumb drive.
I am totally new to Linux. A few days ago I removed Win 7 and loaded 64 bit Mint 15 (MATE) as the only operating system on my HP DV4 machine. I loaded adobereader-enu:i386 from the package manager.
I really could use some education. Thanks!

Re: PDF documents have no PDF icon
Mint generates a thumbnail image of your pdf and text files. So basically you will see the Cover page of your pdf file as your icon. For the doc files, they have an icon of a document with an A on the left.

Re: PDF documents have no PDF icon
You might look in your file manager's options to see if there is an option for whether or not to display thumbnails for files.

Maybe you can post a screenshot of what you're seeing.

If you are using linux mint 16, then open your home directory.
Click on Edit>Preferences
Click on the Preview tab.
Look for Other Previewable files.
You can set if icons show always or only if they are local, etc.
You can also set a filesize limit to show icons or not.
Hope this helps.

Yes, I use and want thumbs for image files, but I don't like thumbs for PDF files. What to do?
Delete xreader.thumbnailer file from /usr/share/thumbnailers/
