Cannot enter password

Postby Bren » Sun Jul 13, 2008 6:43 pm

EDIT: never mind, I found the answer.
------------

Hi, Linux Mint people. I'm coming from DOS/Windows, giving Linux a try (and liking it so far).

I've checked the stickies and searched the forum, but the problem/solution isn't found: when trying to install ATI drivers via the command prompt (using 'sudo'), the terminal doesn't allow me to enter the password. It shows me [sudo] password for me: and not even one character can be typed in. All I can do is cancel the operation as it then gives me a Conversation error. What now?

The password is not shown for security purposes, but it is still being registered. Type in your password and hit enter without mistakes and it should work just fine.
Cheers.

The characters aren't shown for security reasons, it is working. Just type your password and hit enter.

That's the first time I've seen two posts with the same time :D Usually they are a couple of minutes apart.

Yea me too :) .
I know in the notebookreview forums they will stop your post before you submit if someone else had posted in-between, gives you a chance to revise your post. Oh well.

I thought you had seen the edit I made, but thanks anyway. It might prove useful for others seeking this answer.
