How to connect two Linux Mint computers (one with Internet)

Postby a6o10 » Sat Nov 02, 2013 11:53 pm

I have two computers running Linux Mint 11.

One is connected to the Internet through its regular network card.
It also has a USB to Ethernet adaptor (J5 Create 130)

I want to connect the second computer to the first one using an Ethernet cable
(regular, or crossover if necessary) and the USB adaptor of the first one.

I also want the second computer to be connected to the Internet by means of the first one.
From the outside world, only the first computer will appear.

Please give me the instructions of how to accomplish this.
I imagine it's a two part problem: firstly, the two computers have to communicate;
secondly, the first has to be configured to forward the requests of the second computer.

Thank you very much.

P.S. Since we are at it, I would also like to hear about a variation of the above configuration,
where this time the two computers would be connected to each other using two USB wireless
adapters, instead of the Ethernet cable and the USB to Ethernet adapter.

Sharing computer: NetworkManager -> Right mouse click -> Edit connections -> Edit -> Ipv4 settings -> Shared to the other computers
