Automount DVD-ROM

Post by pcassiano » Wed Sep 17, 2008 6:56 am

Hi,

I cannot run DVD-ROMs discs automatically... Only when I restart my system the contents of my discs are displayed... This is very bad, because this time I need to run several data DVDs, browse some files etc...

This is my /fstab:

Code: Select all

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# <file system> <mount point>   <type>  <options>       <dump>  <pass>
proc            /proc           proc    defaults        0       0
# /dev/sda5
UUID=9ffab81e-e435-43c9-8bda-c6ae8859f299 /               ext3    relatime,errors=remount-ro 0       1
# /dev/sda7
UUID=bda26fe9-bc99-4a18-b948-4ad9490f3160 /home           ext3    relatime        0       2
# /dev/sda6
UUID=477c914f-a2a1-4611-9f4b-cdec99d2c015 none            swap    sw              0       0
/dev/scd0       /media/cdrom0   udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0       0
/dev/fd0        /media/floppy0  auto    rw,user,noauto,exec,utf8 0       0
What should I do in order to keep my DVD-ROM drive mounted permanently, then be able to browse as many discs as I want?

You do not mount the drive - you mount the media and when you eject the media it is of course unmounted
Tell us a bit more about your system
Which version of Mint?
Which hardware? Specifically the DVD player
There are very few reports of problems in this category, but there has been a few connected with a particular player....

Not. Should I do it? (Using another Linux system I don't do it...)

About my setup, I have a Core 2 Duo, Mobo ASUS P5LD2-X, DVD-RW LG 48X (but the specific model I forget now... and 'dmesg' doesn't show me... :twisted: )

Any fix for my plataform?
