Need To Access HDD SDA1

Postby Claire » Sat Sep 20, 2008 9:34 am

I have 2 hard drives. SDA1 has XP and SDB1 has Elyssa. How do I mount SDA1???

I want to access the drive so I can locate a .inf file in my windows wireless driver.
I need it to get my Linksys wusb54g v4 wireless adapter working.

I just can't seem to find out how to mount SDA1. Looked everywhere but came up empty.

Thank you for any help. Please make it simple noob directions, especially if it involves Terminal.

Make a directory where you'll mount XP:

Code: Select all

sudo mkdir /media/xp

Now to mount it:

Code: Select all

sudo mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 /media/xp -o uid=1000

Assuming the XP partition uses NTFS, that should give you a desktop icon with the label 'xp'.

The uid=1000 gives you ownership/permissions on that mount.

Mr. Blue, Thank you so much. I followed your instructions and everything worked perfectly.
You are an unreplaceable asset to Mint.

You're too kind. :D

Good luck with the wifi adapter. They can be a bit tricky to set up.
...and that should work...theoretically.
