[SOLVED] Swap File Number

Post by EmpireITtech »

As a general question - when the return of the below code is 60, what does that actually mean?

Code: Select all

cat /proc/sys/vm/swappiness
6gbs?

It has nothing to do with size. It's hard coded to 60 in /usr/src/linux/mm/vmscan.c and can be changed with sysctl.

Code: Select all

/*
 * From 0 .. 100.  Higher means more swappy.
 */
int vm_swappiness = 60;
This pretty much explains it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swappiness
