Is seamonkey not in the Software Center?
Installing software should come from the software center first.

Inside your extracted there should be a seamonkey binary in there. What are the files in the extracter folder? and where did you downloaded the file?

Not all. But at least it ran without some dependency problems.

Anyway a better way to install software not from the Repository is to install a PPA.
It's like activating a repository from a third party provider. Installing software like this will be acknowledge by the system and appropriate shortcuts and icons will be placed on the menu.

See here for the installation of seamonkey through PPA.
