Vizio TV as monitor

Post by oldcity13 » Fri Nov 07, 2014 2:14 pm

Linux Mint 16, 64 BIt, Mate, Petra fully up to date.
Vizio TV Model E37vL
Acer 5520 Laptop, 2 MB Ram, 752 Nvidea Geforce 7000 M, 160GB HDD
RGB Cable w/Audio.

Dual boot w/Windows 7.
Power up TV and set to RGB/COMP power up computer and showed the Acer screen
followed by the Grub screen and selected the Linux Mint OS to run.
Screen goes black showing message no RGB signal power will be turned off.

The plan is to use for Netflix video's only.

What do I need to do?

You may need to enable the monitor in System Settings. You'll find an application in System Settings labeled "Display" or something like that. Click on the graphic that represents your external monitor and flip the switch to "on". If it still doesn't work, try unchecking the box labeled "Mirror". This will allow the laptop and the external monitor to work independently, and with different resolutions.

In Mate menu select "Control Center", in the Hardware section select "Monitors"
Detect Monitors, and check the box "Same image on all monitors"
