HP ENVY 4th gen, 15t i7-4710HQ quad core with linux mint OS

Ok I could not refuse getting a $870 dollar reduced by $150, only for $599 at another store.

It took me a good three weeks seeing that some people are using Ubuntu or mint with some slight issues.

Also in mint hardware config poor, good, or slight issues did not really put a finger what I will be up against like lighted keyboard or dvd issues.

are there any other users or things I might know up front like issues with dual booting? or install?

My old dell 5150 fried my cpu installing mint cinnamon taking too long to set the graphic card, now a paper weight

Last thing I want to do is kill a new puter not knowing if there are any true warning that I may have missed or should have known.

Looks good to me but I am unsure how much mint developers are up to date with that pc

I kind of figured that,

1. I always read Intel did better with graphics then trying to find a nivdi driver or AMD chip set and stuff. not knocking them, just that intel is easy for mint to sync to or like identifying them for easy config. kind of like get a dell Intel and they go easy with mint *cough* not for my old 5150, but kind of give that to being very old hardware.
2. yet I seen other forum with mint 15 or 16 and some minor issue with this pc, but not much for mint 17 or 17.1

I guess my option will be use it as a win8 for awhile and my old tower as Mint till there is more people messing with this rig and figuring out issues, IF any. Its in the mail on it way and just making my game plan for it.

OR - should I be looking at using Debian? seems they work good for envy 17 and a few other Evny puters?

I have to see if it has a second HDD slot, if not it would be kind of silly to disable the puter to install a linux OS hdd each time I want during the day.

If it only has one HDD, then I will have to dual boot. but since the spec are fairly new I will have to wait for others to install and work out any issues. I can not afford to burn up another chip just tp try and see how it goes *pinch of salt over the shoulder*

I would use an external HDD to boot and run, but been told linux OS can not install to an external drive and be run from it as a primary HDD. The day they do that would be sweet.
