SOLVED: How to partition external HDD

Post by jollyjack » Fri Mar 20, 2015 3:38 pm

I have a 1TB HDD which I want to use to backup the HDD on my laptop. I'll need four partitions at the moment, but I might want to create another from No.4. Normally, this mean using an extended partition then logical partitions.

However, my new laptop is UEFI with W8, and having just installed LM17 alongside (and what a struggle THAT was!), I saw that the GPT partition table has done away with extended partitions. So, can I use that with my external HDD instead?

Thanks

Yes, choose the GPT option when creating a new partition table in GParted.
