Update Message - Meaning?

Post by cozski »

Hey, when I run my Update Manager I get this message:
Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/do-core/ppa/ub ... ce/Sources 404 Not Found
Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/do-core/ppa/ub ... 6/Packages 404 Not Found
Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
What does this mean and is there anything I can do to resolve it?

Thanks,
L.B.

You got that PPA from here: https://launchpad.net/~do-core/+archive/ubuntu/ppa??? Take a good look under the pull-down menu Published in: and you will notice that trusty isn't in that list. This means that the PPA won't work for Mint 17. Better is to remove it to avoid any problems in the future.

Mint 17 (= Ubuntu 14.04 trusty) is only supported with this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~do-testers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

That PPA has probably ceased to exist or otherwise become unusable. Simply remove it from your software sources (search for Software Sources in the menu) and all should be well again.
