Try another mirror server (can be done in Software Sources).

I have tried several mirror servers including the recommended one for my location and it makes no difference, the error message is still there.

I have unticked the second and third entries from the bottom and it seems to have done the trick!

I can now confirm that removing the 2 Ubuntu packages killed the error message. Thank you very much for your help. Best wishes.
