Fail to fetch - Hash sum mismatch

Post by JazzAzz »

Right after taking an update (Chrome's latest Stable update), my Update Manager has a big RED, "X" in it and says the following (Screen Shot). Is there something that needs to be done to fix this??? TIA

Choose a different mirror in software sources, refresh and try again.

I recieved this about 20 mins ago, just assumed it was a glitch or some techy stuff being done so was just going to wait till morning and try then.

Re: Update Manager???

Post by Churchhead »

I was just about to post a new thread asking this same question.

I installed Mint 17.2 a few weeks ago and had update errors within days, now I've just done another fresh install of Mint 17.2 and within a couple of days I'm getting update errors again. It just seems strange that a brand new OS would have update errors within days of a fresh install. I could post a screenshot of my update manager but it would be identical to the screenshot already posted by the original poster.

What I did before was just ignored it and carried on, but in doing that I feel like I may have missed something important... I don't like ignoring update failures, because then I feel like I've missed something. If I ignore these update failures and carry on, will these packages remain forever missing from my system, never to be installed? or will they be installed in future updates in the coming days or weeks? or do I need to manually change something? add a PPA or something? why should this even be necessary?

Synaptic failing to upate (Help)

Post by gdias »

Hello, my synaptic Update Manager started to show the following errors:
Could not download all repository indexes

The repository may no longer be available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and ensure the repository address in the preferences is correct.

Failed to fetch http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/dis ... 6/Packages Hash Sum mismatch
Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
I would be really grateful if someone could give me a little help.

Thanks in advance.

This also happened to me today and I've noticed that this is also affecting my laptop which is currently running Ubuntu 14.04.2. Could this be something from their side and not ours?

Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela as up to date as I know.

Get the below error information. Do not see the repository addresses.

How to check the repository address is correct?

Since today same problem here:

Fehlschlag beim Holen von http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/dis ... 6/Packages Hash-Summe stimmt nicht überein
Einige Indexdateien konnten nicht heruntergeladen werden. Sie wurden ignoriert oder alte an ihrer Stelle benutzt.

Yeah been having a red cross in my update icon, probably for a good few hours today, but now it seems back. I opened the update manager (left click on the shield icon in the taskbar) and clicked 'refresh'. Gave me an error message at first, but now it seems good again.

Same here.

Code: Select all

W: Failed to fetch http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty/partner/binary-amd64/Packages Hash Sum mismatch
W: Failed to fetch http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty/partner/binary-i386/Packages Hash Sum mismatch
E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
Temporary. Probably being updated at the repo level.
Easiest way to disable smth if it's being updated is change the hash sum. ;)

Help...Failed to fetch

Just today I get:
Failed to fetch http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/dis ... 4/Packages Hash Sum mismatch
Failed to fetch http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/dis ... 6/Packages Hash Sum mismatch
I have a red X on my update shield.

I have look around and have tried some fixes with no solution.
I'm not exactly sure why all of a sudden, they would stop working.

Thanks!
