[Fixed-see last post] Icon labels greyed out?
I upgraded from Linux Qiana to Rafael (17.2) and when using the "icon" view I can't see the labels... they are there but greyed out. If I switch to "list" mode and then switch back to "icon" I can (sometimes) get what I want, viewable labels. Anyone finding this? I am using a Thinkpad T-61 (widescreen) BTW (if that matters). Also, I did not get this with Qiana (17). Thanks for any responses!

Hi newyorkpaulie,
Which desktop? Cinnamon, etc and which file manager are you using-default?
If you don't know then open a terminal and enter:
copy/paste the results here

I have the same problem in MATE.
I think it is a known bug though...
Probably will get fixed in 17.3.

For Mate try this.
Open Caja, click on Edit/Backgrounds and Emblems.
Drag 'Reset' into the Caja window and release it.

Nope, same problem. Although switching backgrounds does fix it temporarily, if this is what you mean. Clicking randomly on folders in the sidebar also seems to do the trick.

Thank you - to all who have replied.
I did the Edit/Backgrounds... in Caja fix (posted by all41 above) and found that using a dark background works very well. I'm actually liking it better than the "old' way. Upgraded to Rosa and am happy once again. Life is sweet!
