[solved] installed program is not appearing in Menu

I installed Geany from Software Center. It was listed under Programming section of Mint Menu. Ok fine. I had to restart my computer and now it's not listed in menu. There's no Programming section either. I also edited menu and checked those items it's no where to be found. confused?
I also did this

sudo apt-get remove --purge geany
sudo apt-get install geany

It's still not in menu.

Edit: Reason I had to restart my computer is because I had to pass a screenshot to a colleague. Screenshot app did not launch, Nemo did not launch, just waiting in background. Launched after restart. But I lost a lot of time. Thanks Mint seriously. You call this is a solid OS now? Thanks for proving me everyday how unreliable OS you're despite all my efforts to not use WIndows.

Did you try running it from the terminal?
Has it happened before with other programs you installed?

Also, what's the point in blaming Mint? Every computer program contains bugs...

Yes I just did. Not only it ruined all my customisations -no biggie- but Geany is still missing. lol I can launch it with alt+f2 combo but not listed in Menu.

if there is a geany file in /usr/share/applications, *copy* it to $HOME/.local/share/applications, you can edit the file, and choose which Categories it goes into, example: Utility.

see if it shows then. I have no idea why it wasn't there. I use geany and didn't have that problem on Mint 17.2 xfce.

Thanks this works. I use Cinnamon probably that's why.
