Is It Safe?

Post by mintymintminty »

I probably should of asked before I actually downloaded it and installed it ( silly me ) but I just installed Keepassx 2.0.2 from here http://ppa.launchpad.net/eugenesan/ppa/ ... /keepassx/ using a .deb file

It installed a few other packages that I don't remember the names of but does anyone know if this is safe?

Using PPA is not safe way.
Owner of mentioned PPA is https://launchpad.net/~eugenesan
Official download site of KeePassX is https://www.keepassx.org/downloads/
Safe way of install someting is looks like this

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install KeePassX
Windows assumes I'm stupid but Linux demands proof of it

Whole OS Linux Mint 17 is bit old too. Exactly as Keepassx in repositories. So what? Newer doesn't means better and safer. As I remember you asked about safety? Safe ways answered above.

You're right I agree newer doesn't always mean better. I just thought it good practise to update the software which ( in this case ) is not in the repositories. Thank you for your help much appreciated.
