Whisker Menu not getting focus

Postby setsails » Sat Mar 05, 2016 8:40 am

Hey guys,

I'm using Mint Rosa with XFCE (Compiz) for a week or two now with the awesome whisker menu. However I'm sometimes encountering problems with whisker menu's search bar if I open it via a keyboard shortcut. If the cursor previously was in a text field (e. g. the terminal), the whisker menu search bar won't gain focus and I'm not able to type anything in there. Instead, once I type, the input appears in the previous text field.
There aren't any problems coming from a non-text field (By that I mean anything you can't type into) [EDIT:( or when I use the mouse to open the whisker menu.)]

In case that is important:

Code: Select all

flo@6100 ~ $ inxi
CPU~Quad core Intel Core i5-4460 (-MCP-) speed/max~2097/3400 MHz Kernel~3.19.0-32-generic x86_64 Up~1:57 Mem~1137.1/7890.9MB HDD~2120.4GB(0.5% used) Procs~205 Client~Shell inxi~2.2.28

uname -a delivers:

Code: Select all

flo@6100 ~ $ uname -a
Linux 6100 3.19.0-32-generic #37~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Thu Oct 22 09:41:40 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

If there are any further questions, I'll answer as soon as possible. I wouldn't describe myself as a bloody noob in Linux things, but I'm not too experienced either.

Any hints/solutions? Thanks in advance :)

I hope no one minds, but I'm going to bump this old, unanswered thread because I've noticed exactly the same behaviour on my own system. Does anyone have any ideas?

Found a solution. For anyone looking at this in future, open Compiz settings and go to General Options > Focus Prevention Level. Set that option to Off.
