Restarting gets stuck on black screen

When I try to restart my computer (mint 17 xfce) it gets stuck on a black screen. If I wait a couple minutes (and maybe if I press ctrl-alt-f3, not sure if it even took that or if it showed it on the screen anyway) it shows this:

[ 240.184548] INFO: task dmraid:240 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
[ 240.184555] Not tainted 3.19.0-32-generic #37~14.04.1-Ubuntu
[ 240.184561] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.

Then it has basically those same three lines over and over, but for kworker and systemd-udevd

I have to hold down the power button to turn off the computer.

If I use Shutdown instead of Restart, it works fine.

I'm guessing this is some crazy unfixable kernel thing right??

Difficult to say without more information. The messages suggest something to do with RAID or the kernel. I'd try reverting any change made recently to the operating system, particularly to configuration files. Secondly, consider changing the kernel version, which is easy using Linux Mint's Update Manager (browse the Tools option on the menu).
