Slower first time opening files?

Post by Cicero86 »

Hi, I've been a user for quite a while now.

I noticed something weird. It's getting somehow somewhat slower than before when I open a file or open the start menu for the first time.

What is your advice? :)

Thanks in advance.

At first we need to know your system: Version and desktop environment. If you don't know open a terminal and enter:

Code: Select all

inxi -Sz
Paste the output here.

Create a new user account and compare there.

System: Host: mrhm-Aspire-5750G Kernel: 3.16.0-38-generic x86_64 (64 bit)
Desktop: Xfce 4.12.2 Distro: Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela

By the way it's not just with opening files. It's the start menu too.

I was hoping to find some general tips on making linux mint faster in general. :)

Thanks in advance.
