System Freezing!

Hi guys.....I've had an ongoing problem for a while with the system totally freezing up. Only way round it is to switch the power off.

I'm on 17.3 Cinammon 64 bit and here's the specs......

Do you have more details about the freezes? When do they occur? Are you doing something special when it freezes? Like watching youtube videos or listening music...
Do you know if it's a software freezing or Cinnamon or... ?

Does ctrl + alt + escape work when the system is frozen?
Does ctrl + alt + backspace work when the system is frozen?
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

I found the fix......apparently it affects all Debian based distros if certain Intel chipsets are in place.
