How to verify ISO images - "gpg --recv-key A25BAE09" doesn't work.

Using gpg --recv-key A25BAE09 returns the following

gpg: no keyserver known (use option --keyserver)
gpg: keyserver receive failed: bad URI

I searched here and found this which I used instead:

gpg --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys A25BAE09

This seems to have imported the key.

Is using "--keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com" okay? Or do I need to fix something to get "gpg --recv-key A25BAE09" to import the key?

It is okay; it means you hadn't set up GPG for yourself yet. If you do it creates a default ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf that lists the default server hkp://keys.gnupg.net.

If it's useful; I recently posted a minimal run-through at https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=223994&p=1180346#p1180346.
