I installed Enigmail. Had to remove and reinstall that and the Gnupgp. When I did that I lost apt and some other stuff. Used Aptitude and got apt badk. Reinstalled things that had been removed. Encryption works good as far as I can tell. However I'm getting this message when doing a reload packages in Synaptic and the refresh in update manager:
W: GPG error: http://packages.linuxmint.com betsy Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 3EE67F3D0FF405B2
W: GPG error: http://extra.linuxmint.com betsy Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 3EE67F3D0FF405B2
I'm using LMDE2.
Thanks for any ideas and suggestions. I have no idea what this is talking about.

Re: Odd messages with Synaptic and update manager
Did you probably remove gnupg? Enigmail uses now gnupg2, but gnupg is still needed for the package management.

Re: Odd messages with Synaptic and update manager
I had removed and reinstalled it. Pretty sure that the Synaptic showed it being there and installed. But will check later to be sure. Just seemed odd seeing the message like that.

Re: Odd messages with Synaptic and update manager
A while ago I made exactly the same mistake: viewtopic.php?f=90&t=195574&p=1014689#p1014689.
Looking through my old post I noticed that you seem to have omitted the last step, that is re-installing the linuxmint-keyring
Please can someone more knowledgeable than me confirm that this will solve the problem.
