Screen Resolution Problem . . .

Postby emily_starr » Sat Feb 28, 2009 11:58 am

When I first installed Linux Mint 6 a box popped up that told me my display quality was low. I tried to change it but it wouldn't let me. I rebooted and logged in. The display was huge! I tried to change it in the Screen Resolution settings, but because it was so big I couldn't see the end of settings window and it wouldn't change. I really need some help! :( Please tell me how to fix this!

Is the system telling you that "restricted drivers" are available? What graphics card are you using? We need this information to try and help you.

It's a Dell Dimension 2350. I'm not sure what graphics card I am using, how do I find that out? And it's not telling me that restricted drivers are available. Sorry. I'm not very computer savvy. :?

I found the specs here.

integrated Intel 3D Extreme Graphics

Can you look in Synaptic and see if there is an updated driver for Intel graphics? There should be a way to fix this problem.

Synaptic is listed as "Package manager" in the menu. The "Refresh" button is in the top left of the application.

OK

I am running a similar dell and I have not had any problems with the display. When you run the live cd is the display OK?
